RPN 9 and IBC 13

I missed watching tv sitcoms, tokusatsu and anime from IBC 13. For me, this station is the best in choosing imported dramas and tv shows. Their Filipino dub is cool and they even change the names of characters in a way that Filipino viewers can relate.

My favorite shows in RPN 9 are John en Marsha, Fiveman, Jiban and Dragonball.

RPN 9's partnership with Solar Entertainment makes the channel air sports events and american shows/movies.

IBC 13 and RPN 9 were used to be the home of the brightest stars and shows back then. I remembered that every time I watch RPN 9, there is always a clock displayed at the bottom left of the screen.

Kwarta o Kahon is one of the most popular game shows hosted by the late Mr. Pepe Pimentel. The prizes were simple such as Yakult and Advan rubber shoes.

Both tv stations were sequestered by the government in the 80s or I think early 90s. Great shows and stars were pirated by ABS CBN 2 and GMA 7.

In the 90s, they still air good shows from other countries such as mexican/spanish telenovelas and anime.

Marimar became a hit when it was aired on RPN 9. This is the reason why telenovelas are popular back then.

Since 2000, IBC 13 has only shown documentaries/news and government propaganda. Basketball is the only popular and interesting show. This station has become the second most boring VHF channel. First is NBN 4.

I heard last night about the government's plan to sell both tv networks. For me this is good news because employees especially the older ones will be more motivated to do their craft. Broadcasting equipments will be new and they can hopefully reign again.

TV 5 is doing good so far. It can now rival the two biggest networks, ABS CBN 2 and GMA 7.

I hope the government will have a buyer that can really manage to have a responsible news reporting. Our Philippine entertainment industry will be flourished and viewers can choose more programs that are suitable to their preferences.
